Evergreen cone in…bloom?

I was taking a walk a couple weeks ago when this pink beauty pictured above caught my eye. If I were walking quickly, I wouldn’t have noticed it nestled among the green needles of an evergreen tree. I am not very familiar with these trees and wonder if it is a cone… in bloom? (If you know, please share!)

In the spring time, I always love seeing how green buds and colorful flowers emerge from the barren branches of deciduous trees and shrubs.

However, I don’t recall ever paying close attention to how evergreens change in Spring. I never would have imagined that some evergreens could create a magenta pink explosion of life!

I spent several minutes admiring not only it’s color, but also it’s shapes and textures. How many more bursts of pink were on this tree? What would it feel like? Smell like like?

Spring is full of surprises.

I wonder what delightful surprises you might encounter this spring if you set aside a few minutes to slow down outdoors.

You don’t need to go to a park or the woods. There could be a plant right outside your door that you pass by every day without a second glance that has a surprise in store for you.

Perhaps you could surprise the plant back by showing it some care and attention you haven’t shown it before.
